An overhead throw with more room to land
The overhead back throw and its longer landing are live in Fighting in the Streets, with a clear guide to trying the move.
We checked the public game again on October 22 and verified the overhead back throw in the live build. This announcement covers the throw and the extra landing distance demonstrated in the game journal; it does not introduce another physics change.
To try it, choose Nia Brooks or Ren Hoshino and get close to a standing opponent. Press away from the opponent and medium punch or heavy punch together. For Player 1, press away and Q or E together. A compatible controller uses back plus medium punch or heavy punch.
The opponent now lands 64 world pixels farther from the capture position in an unobstructed standing throw. The same 135 damage and throw timing remain. Near a wall, the arena boundary limits the landing. The seated ground transfer and other throw types keep their earlier distance.
Nia and Ren have dedicated original overhead throw artwork. The broader cast uses its existing grapple artwork for the shared mechanic. The 21-second game-journal comparison shows the earlier and current distance in our own gameplay, with captions, a transcript, tests, and the remaining limits.
Original designs and artwork by Keyeske Yamada. Game made completely in Codex GPT 6.1 SOL. The comparison uses existing music scores by Codex, remixed in Suno.
